Festival
Celebrate the Arts
July 12th – 21st, 2024
Festivals that celebrate the arts are a fun affair and great for all ages.
Better yet, how about one set against the backdrop of magnificent mountains and the sandy beaches of Harrison Lake?
For 4 decades, the Harrison Festival of the Arts has presented the best in Canadian and International performing and visual arts. Music from all corners of the globe, exhibits, workshops – and you’re invited!
Yet, all this big-world music often comes from humble roots. Whether it was a drum solo a young Senegalese heard as a child, or the strains of a banjo that inspired music from a local artist, art tells a story – theirs- but also yours. Art expresses the experiences that shape all our lives.
Enjoy the transformative power of music.
See the world from another person’s perspective through dazzling displays of visual art.
Walk through our many creative exhibits. Participate in Festival activities that bring the art world into your hands and put you in the creator’s seat.
The Festival has something for everyone: visual and literary arts, music, theatre, and a large outdoor art and craft market filled with local artisanal products. There’s even a day dedicated to children, so your little ones can enjoy all the art world has to offer in a hands-on environment.
Best of all, The Festival is free of large crowds, line-ups and high ticket prices that usually accompany an event of this caliber. It’s world-class entertainment, but with a small-town feel. A perfect getaway from hectic city life!
Come explore! While you’re there, take in the beautiful, lakeside Village of Harrison Hot Springs, where you can also experience the many fine restaurants, shops and other attractions.
Just to get you salivating…
Here’s a little peek at what the Festival has to offer
Evenings in the Hall
There’s nothing like the magic of live performance! If you can’t visit Carnegie Hall in New York, the next best thing is the lineup we have in our venerable Harrison Memorial Hall. Enjoy eight full-length concerts, one evening of theatre and one evening of literary readings.
Workshops
Art engages the senses, so why not engage your sense of adventure? Join an interactive workshop led by Festival performers and our community partners. Come swing to samba, join a drum circle or just get creative at one of our workshops!
Music on the Beach
There is one thing we all share, regardless of culture, background or age and that’s music. Sample a selection of music from around the globe as world-class artists take the outdoor stage. With the mountains of Harrison Lake as a backdrop, all you need is a sunset and voilà, instant romance!
Juried Artisan Market
On the grass in front of the lagoon beach, under tents that billow, you’ll find a dazzling array of hand crafted items. Each weekend of the Festival, a juried market will feature some of BC’s finest artists and artisans. Want to join them? Find out more about becoming an Artisan at the Harrison Artisan Market.
Art Exhibit
Just around the corner, you’ll find The Festival’s visual art exhibit. Take in the flavours of everything from classic to contemporary art in the picturesque Ranger Station Art Gallery, located at 98 Rockwell Drive.
